About Me
Hi! I'm Francesc, a bioinformatics researcher passionate about unraveling the complexities of the microbiome and its role in human health.
I combine computational biology, data science, and statistical modeling to understand how microbial communities influence immune responses and disease progression.
My Journey
My fascination with biology and computation began during my undergraduate studies, where I discovered the power of data-driven approaches to answer fundamental questions about life. This led me to pursue specialized training in bioinformatics and computational genomics.
Over the past several years, I've focused on microbiome research—investigating how trillions of microorganisms living in and on our bodies influence health, disease, and therapeutic outcomes. My work bridges wet-lab biology and computational analysis, allowing me to design experiments, generate high-throughput sequencing data, and develop analytical pipelines to extract meaningful insights.
I'm particularly interested in the intersection of the microbiome with immunology and epigenetics, exploring how microbial communities shape immune cell behavior and gene regulation in health and disease contexts.

Beyond Research
When I'm not analyzing sequencing data or writing code, you'll find me exploring new hiking trails, experimenting with sourdough fermentation (the best kind of microbiology outside the lab!), or diving into the latest science fiction novels.
I'm passionate about science communication and making complex biological concepts accessible to broader audiences. I believe that sharing our research journey—including the challenges and failures—is essential for inspiring the next generation of scientists.
I'm also committed to open science practices, reproducible research, and contributing to the scientific community through open-source software development and data sharing.
